    Brown v. Board of Education
    Was a landmark United States Supreme Court case in which the Court declared state laws establishing separate public schools for black and white students to be unconstitutional.
    Supreme Court ruled that the "separate but equal" doctrine was unconstitutional because it violated the Fourteenth Amendment rights by separating students solely on the classification of the color of their skin
    This case inspired the civil rights movement of the late 1950's and 1960's
  • Education for All Handicapped Children Act go 1975

    Education for All Handicapped Children Act go 1975
    All children with disabilities would "have a right to education, and to establish a process by which State and local educational agencies may be held accountable for providing educational services for all handicapped children." Focuses on ensuring that children with disabilities had access to an education and due process of law. Congress includes an system of legal checks and balances called "procedural safeguards" that are designed to protect the rights of children and their parents
  • Board of Education v. Rowley

    Board of Education v. Rowley
    United States Supreme Court case concerning the interpretation of the Education of All Handicapped Children Act of 1975. Amy Rowley was a deaf student whose school refused to provide a sign language interpreter. The Court held that public schools are not required by law to provide sign language interpreters to deaf students who are otherwise receiving an equal and adequate education.
