    In October of 1958, a game was created like no other. Physicist William Higinbotham created a game that was virtual. It was called Pong and it was basically a 2d tennis game. This was extremely popular because this was the first time that technology was used to make entertainment!

    In 1971, The world's first arcade machine was made. Created by Nolan Bushnell and Ted Dabney, Computer Space was their first attempt and furthering the production of video games! They later went on to create the company Atari.

    The very next year Ralph H. Baer created the first of many home consoles. When starting production in the late 60s, He knew it would compete with araced machines. The first model was called "Brown Box" and was later licensed to be called the "Magnavox Odyssey" by 1972.

    Prior to this time, Only films had songs and pieces to play in the background. But the first game to have its own soundtrack was Tomohiro Nishikado's Space Invaders! This was the first game to have its own theme and was the first game to start adding music to video games.

    Ever since Jun 6, 1984, Tetris was the most popular and most downloaded game of all time with over 170 MILLION copies sold. Well after about 27 years, Microsoft's "Minecraft" beat that record with currently 176 Million Downloads! This is also one of the few games that took the internet by storm for over 6 years straight, with being the top of the trending page for almost every day

    As crazy as it sounds, Fortnite has made it into video game history. Live events were basically "a crazy visual effect" that happened to the game only one time ever and everyone playing the game across all platforms could watch it at the same time. The most recent one was an event that took the internet by storm, they shut down the game servers on purpose for about 3 days and everyone went crazy. Say what you want about the game but you can't deny that it made video game history.
