    Johann Gutenberg's invention of a mass producing printer started what we know as the Printing Revolution, and is often mentioned as the first important event of the modern renaissance. The creation helped fill a role in the development of the Renaissance, Reformation, the Age of Enlightenment, and the Scientific Revolution. The Printing Press laid the material basis for the knowledge-based economy and the spread of learning to the masses, since it was now easier to get your hands on a book.

    Luther Posts his 95 Thesis
    Martin Luther (not King jr.) posted his 95 Theses on the door of a church in Wittenberg, Germany, soon beginning the uprising of the Protestant Reformation. The thesis was made up of 95 "rules" to Lutheranism, a religion named after Martin Luther. The simple act of posting this paper outside of a church was the cause for a large uprising, where the poor finally took a stand for their religion. Link text

    Baron de Montesquieu published his book, "On The Spirit Of Laws".
    In 1748, the Enlightenment philosopher, Baron de Montesquieu, published a book called "On The Spirit Of Laws' which talks about how there should be separation of powers in a government and balance between power. These ideas were later put to use in the Constitution. Some of them are still applicable today. link text

    An act regulating stamp duty. An act of the British Parliament in 1765 that exacted revenue from the American colonies by imposing a stamp duty on newspapers and legal and commercial documents. Colonial opposition led to the act's repeal in 1766 and helped encourage the revolutionary movement against the Crown.

    There had been a rumor circulating that the king had been planning a military coup against the national Assembly. The people decided to defend their city, and ended up marching to the Bastille prison for gunpowder and weapons. The governor of the prison refused them, so they fought until the prison surrendered. Then, in a coup, Napoleon wipes out the directory completely and makes himself ruler. After this, he signs a contract with Pope Pius VII, and he becomes the emperor. He crowns himself to show he is more powerful than the Church. He goes on to defeat Austria and build his empire. link text

Jang Song-Thaek was considered to be the most powerful official in the DPRK Regime.
