Importation of African Slaves Began

Naturalization Act of 1790
This act provided the first rules for all of the US regarding the granting of national citizenship. This act determined who was a citizen of the UnitedStates which before was only "free white persons" with this act, however, it now did not leave out indentured servants, slaves, and most women. Alien and Sedition Acts
These were a series of laws passed in 1798. The laws made it harder for new immigrants to vote, new powers to deport foreigners, and more. -
5th Amendment Passes !
The 5th Amendment allows anyone to vote, regardless of the color of their skin. -

Expatriation Act
This act made it so any women who was a U.S. citizen loses her citizenship automatically. They did this so they could reduce immigrants becoming citizens. -
Emergency Immigration Act
This act made it so we could limit the amount of immigrants that came into the United States by doing quotas based on the rate birth. -

The border was established between inspection stations. Border Patrol agents patrolled on horseback with a revolver. -

Protests start against racial segregation. -
Immigration Reform and Control Act (IRCA)
This act was signed on November 6, 1986 and made it there was more control over illegal immigration to the United States. The act effected the legalization of undocumented aliens who had been continuously unlawfully present since 1982, legalization of certain agricultural workers, sanctions for employers who knowingly hire undocumented workers, and increased enforcement at U.S. borders. -
September 11 attacks
This is the day the twin towers and the Pentagon were hit with plans by terrorists. Because of these attacks we expanded the military along the boarders. -

This initiative was a multi-year plan to secure America's borders and reduce illegal migration. -
Arizona Immigration law (SB 1070)
This law states that individuals over the age of 14 that stays in the U.S. for longer than 30 days must register with the U.S. government. -
President Obama Signs Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA)
This act allows some undocumented immigrants who came to the U.S. as children to stay in the Country. Specific regulations vary state from state.
