  • Treaty of Paris (February 10th 1763)

    This Treaty/ Agreement ended the seven years war against Britain, France and allied French Native American tribes. Great Britain, Spain, France and Portugal all signed in agreement.
  • Proclamation Act (October 7th, 1763)

    The proclamation Act was set up to forbid any settlers from settling at any point past the Appalachian Mountains.
  • The Sugar Act

    The Sugar Act was a modification of the Molasses Act of 1733. The Sugar tax was forced because of the overwhelming debt caused by the 7 year war with the French and Indians.
  • the Stamp Act

    The Stamp act was passed by British parliament onto the thirteen colonies in 1765. This Act enforced colonists to use special paper with a stamp on it while writing letters, newspapers and other things.
  • The Quartering Act

    This act, enforced by British parliament enforced colonists to provide any needed accommodations or housing for the British soldiers in the colonies.
  • The Stamp Act Congress

    This was a unified group of various representatives from across the 13 colonies who met together and came up with a protest against Britain's taxations.
  • Declaration of Rights and Grievances

    This was a draft written at the Stamp Act Congress addressing the issues of taxation without representation, and the overall disapproval of taxation from Great Britain onto the colonists.
  • Stamp Act Repealed

    After months of protest the colonists won an appeal by the British Parliament after a meeting with Benjamin Franklin in the British house of commons.
  • Decalatory Act

    This Act accompanied the repeal of the stamp act and the lessening of the sugar act.
  • Townshend Act

    Acts put in place to try and take revenue from colonists by taxing imported goods such as glass, leads, paints, paper and tea.
  • Boston Massacre

    Unarmed English protesters were fired upon by the British army in Boston. Three were killed instantly and two later died from their wounds.
  • Committee of correspondance

    The first established colonial unions in the thirteen colonies. They were created to combat British taxes.
  • Tea Act

    An act enacted to bail out the British east tea company from debt. The tea company was declared a monopoly for the colonies by the British government, which ultimately lead to the Boston tea party
  • Intolerable Acts

    They were acts brought upon the colonists From the British parliament after the destruction at the Boston tea party.
  • First Continental congress

    The first congress gathered colony representatives to discuss the issue of unfair taxing by the British government.
  • Lexington and Concord

    The first military engagements between colonists and British resistance.
  • Bunker Hill

    This was the first important battle fought in the American Revolution. Although the Americans lost, they inflicted major casualties upon the British forces.
  • Appeal to Reason ejected

    King refuses to negotiate.
  • Common Sense

    A colonial pamphlet written supporting the idea of separation and independence from Great Britain.
  • Declaration of Independence

    A written independence agreement written for king James instructing that the American people wanted freedom and the separation from Britain's power.
