  • Massacre at wounded knee

This massacre was near wounded knee creek on the Lakota Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. At first, it was just a battle between the American troops and the Lakota Indians, but then it turned into a massacre. That shows that the West was very wild. The reason it turned into a massacre was because a tribesman was reluctant to give up his rifle. The rifle was fought over, which caused people to open fire, which led to the killing of many men and women.
