Coneccted the Mediterranean and Red seas to allow ships to go through the tip of egypt and prevented ships form going aorund africa to get to India. Allowed European countries to trade with India and Japan quicker, which increased the amount of goods flowing. -
David Livingstone found
Leading an expidition of 200 men into Africa to find Livingstone. Henry Stanley finally completes his mission by finding Livingstone in a small village. -
Open Door Policy
Opened Chinese trade to all nations. It allowed countries to get what they couldn't have or produce. -
Boer War
Occured in africa between the British Empire and the Boers of the Orange Free State. The Boers wanted there independence, they created a resistance. -
Panama Canal Built
The Panama Canal was built by the Unitied States and encouraged by President Roosevelt. Allowed ships to go through Panama, preventing ships from going around the southern tip of South America.
