He was the first one to reunited western Europe after the fall of the Roman Empire. Charlemagne did more then just conquest he also aided in the spread of Christianity.

    The Crusades were an important event in history. It begun in 1093 and lasted for 200 years. Pope Urban II called for a holy war over the holy land of Jerusalem. Pope Urban II used the holy war to get rip of quarrelsome knights that threatened the peace and the Church's properties. Others who participated were younger sons who, unlike their oldest brother, did not stand to inherit their father’s properties.

(He posted this list on the Church’s door.) One thing Martin greatly emphasize on was the selling of indulgences. He believe that you can not buy god’s good graces but it is a gift that you accept.

    Niccolo Machiavelli was a sort of philosopher of his time in the renaissance even though he was much more than that. He was a great and profound thinker. He believed his ideas about rulers were true and the best. "It is better to be feared than loved, if you can't be both" ** His work called "Prince" was highly recommended and had a great influence on some rulers. Machiavelli's book made King Henry VIII take the Protestantism's side. Also some of his ideas are still in use today.
