    Temple Mayor

    Temple Mayor
This is a temple was a twin temple devoted to the god of war and the god of agriculture. It includes many artifacts that were uncovered after the temple and city was destroyed by the New Spanish Colonial city. I think this is particularity important because not only the temple is important but the art found inside is as well. Many art that inhabited the Temple was stolen as well and seeing the surviving art shows juts how important the history is.

    All T'oqapu Tunic

    All T'oqapu Tunic
The is known by the Incas and is a royal textile. This is almost entirely covered with small rectangular units which is where the title T'oqapu comes in. Garments of the style would communicate status fro the wearer. It is interesting how a designs hold a special significance to the wearer. It is kind of comparable to modern times. I find it really cool that textiles were more important than gold during this time.
  • Ruler's feather headdress

    Ruler's feather headdress
This is a replica of a feathered headdress. It was sent to Europe by Hernan Cortes who defeated the aztecs. He is overwhelmed by the beauty of the aztecs feathered headdress'. It is interesting in how art is always inspiring someone else and it always continuous. We have to see it as a costume and not just a headdress to see the importance of costumes within the aztecs. The headdress transforms the ruler.

    Bandolier Bag
The name bandolier means to wear over the shoulder. They were carried by European soldiers armed with rifles. The bags stored ammunition. The bags made by tribes are large and are colorful and beaded. Interestingly, they originally did not have a pocket and were made to accompany the mens ceremonial outfits. this is just another example of how art from the past is passed down. These bags are still used by so many people today. They may be different style but it still keeps with past.
