Great Famine
Each family in Ireland grew potatoes that they needed for that year. In 1846, the crops were a total failure and in 1847 there was a very poor harvest. This happened during World War 1 and some people believe that the potatoes could have been poisoned by the chemicals. Ireland's population by a quarter through death and emigration. -
Easter Uprising
The Easter Uprising took place in Dublin, Ireland on Easter Sunday when Patrick Pearse wanted a provisional government for Ireland making the armed rebels take over major land marks and provoking the Irish citizens. That's when the Irish citizens declare war. -
Sinn Fein
The nationlist movement Sinn Fein (We Ourselves) sets up a Dublin assembly, the Dail Eireann, which proclaims Irish independence, and was led by Eamonn De Velera. The Irish Republican Army (IRA) made a campaign against British forces and started having heavy casualties on both sides. -
Civil War in Ireland
The Civil War of Ireland broke out due to multiple tensions to the anti-Treaty IRA which was occupying the Four Courts.
