Isabella Johnson: From Birth to The Wedding

  • Birth

Isabella Johnson is born smiling and gleeful at 1:46 a.m. in San Francisco, California.
  • First Memory

Her mother's strawberry blonde hair brushes up against Isabella's nose when she picks her up from her crib, making her laugh.
  • Mother Leaves

Isabella's mother leaves her and her father in San Francisco abruptly, but Isabella cannot remember this or the little person that her mother took with her.
  • New Job

When Isabella starts first grade, her father Jason leaves his coaching job at Independence High School to become the head coach for the San Francisco Forty Niners.
  • A Little Help

Jason signs Isabella up for an after school program so she doesn't have to stay home alone every night.
  • A Started Tradition

Isabella and Jason begin the long lasting tradition of cooking a new recipe for every meal every first Saturday of the month so they can spend time together without the interruption of football, which she looks forward to to this day.
  • A New Asset and A New Annoyance

The start of 5th grade brings early growth spurts for Isabella, landing her as an amazing volleyball player in gym class and a group of bullies whose favorite line was, "How's the weather up there?"
  • Why Stand Up When You Could Sit Down?

After Isabella confronts the bullies with the complete and utter truth about their comments, their insults become more snide, their tactics more ruthless, and physical abuse becomes more evident.
  • The First Lie

When Jason asks how Isabella got the big purple bruise speckled with yellow and black, she says it was from volleyball practice and whisks the pancake batter a bit more aggressively, not mentioning the real reason was because of a boy's foot that collided "accidentally" with her shin.
  • Blow Up #1

Right after the bell for the end of the last day of school, the boys tease Isabella about her height, and all of her thoughts and emotions that have been built up come pouring out in a angry, screaming rage that ensured she would never be bullied again.
  • "It's the psychopath."

Isabella's hopes of a fresh start and new friends at the local middle school are shattered when the story of Blow Up #1 has already been taken in by the school gossip chain, immediately labeling her the class psychopath.
  • Blow Up #2

After months of hearing snide comments when she passes through the halls of school, Isabella has Blow Up #2 in gym class, screaming and punching the wall half way through the mile run.
  • Kicked Out

The after school program that had been almost a second home to Isabella refuses to let her come again after hearing of her possible violent qualities.
  • Dr. Evans

Jason hires Dr. Evans, Ph.D, to have regular twice a week therapy with Isabella, meaning she has to quit volleyball.
  • Blow Up #3

It seems that the information that "The psychopath goes to a shrink" had been picked up by the school gossip chain around the end of spring break, causing the crying and screaming of Blow Up #3 almost 5 months later in the abandoned girls bathroom on the second floor, the one with all of the toilets plugged no matter the day.
  • Good Riddance!

After three successful years of treatment with no (reported) Blow Ups, Isabella finally gets to have her Tuesday and Thursday nights free from the dreadful office that smelled of bleach and pills, ready to try out for the Varsity Volleyball team in her Sophomore year.
  • Tryouts

Isabella tries out for Varsity Volleyball, the one thing she loves more than the truth and her dad.
  • Rejection

After receiving her advanced mathematics placement scores back during the school day, Isabella found that her perfect score didn't matter because her teachers refused to have their star students get "corrupted" by her.
  • Acceptance, For Once

Isabella gets into Varsity Volleyball for the 2014- 2015 season.
  • Blow Up #4

During a volleyball practice, Isabella has Blow Up #4 caused by the way her teachers stereotyped her, which involves lots of yelling and serving the ball so aggressively that her other teammates aren't able to volley it back, which earns her praise from her coaches.
  • Did Someone Just Say My Name?

A fellow Varsity teammate, Clarissa, sits down at Isabella's usually empty lunch table, being the first non-related person to speak to her without being forced to in almost five years.
  • Meet The Family

After becoming friends over regular lunch conversations, Isabella invites Clarissa to her house for the First Saturday of the month so she can meet her dad.
  • Dad Approves

When Clarissa leaves after a fun filled day of football, cards, and cooking, Jason whispers to Isabella, "Today is the first time I have seen you genuinely smile in five years," then winks.
  • No Strings Attached. Well, Maybe One...

Clarissa hooks Isabella up for a summer job interview at the local Jack In The Box with only one condition, that Isabella and her would go to the Junior Prom together because, as Clarissa says, "No guy would be insane enough to date me."
  • Jack In The Box

Isabella gets a job at Jack In The Box with Clarissa, they work together all summer, becoming best friends.
  • A Little Heart Trouble

Isabella starts to have feelings for Clarissa that she has never had for anyone else, and she's not sure if that's okay.
  • Let Down

Clarissa and Isabella are by their lockers when Clarissa says, "That new guy's hot, don't you think?", as a tall, dark, and handsome stranger walks past.
  • Drifting...

Clarissa cancels on Isabella so that Jake (the tall, dark, and handsome stranger) can have her help with Algebra 2 homework, and Isabella goes home alone to study.
  • Boyfriend

Clarissa walks into school with Jake on her arm, not looking like he has the intent to ever let go, but Isabella just slams her locker and keeps her opinions inside.
  • The Final Straw

Right after the Independence Eagles loose the State Championship, Clarissa tells Isabella that she will be going to the Junior Prom with Jake instead of with her.
  • Blow Up #5

Isabella (as the team captain) gives her team a talk about the game, but Blow Up #5 gets in the way, and she starts yelling at Clarissa for all of the mistakes made while playing, eventually letting it slip that Isabella loves her.
  • Final Days of Independence High School

After Winter Break, the school gossip chain has added another layer to Isabella's ongoing ruin: "The mental psychopath is a lesbian."
  • IQ Academy

After losing her best friend and her last shred of dignity, Jason pulls Isabella out of Independence High School and enrolls her at IQ Academy, an online high school.
  • Lizzy Robin

Jason signs Isabella up on www.internationpal.com, a website designed to connect teenagers from other countries, where she meets the perfect Lizzy Robin
  • Bradley Abney

Isabella receives a response on www.internationalpal.com from Bradley Abney, Lizzy's best friend who seems to be as perfect as Lizzy has made him out to be, because she is sick and couldn't respond, so he did it for her.
  • Invitation

After months of pretending to enjoy Lizzy's letters, Isabella receives an invitation to Lizzy's sister's wedding, which Jason insists that she go to, saying, "You're old enough to go alone. You're seventeen. Just try not to... blow up... if you know what I mean."
