John Q. Adams won the election the year of 1824. He won by doing the corrupt bargain with, Henry Clay. Henry helped him get all of his votes from all of his followers. -

Jackson won by a landslide. He won because all the common men were in the southern areas of america and they had a high amount of votes for him. -

The states didn't want to pay the protective tariff that Jackson wanted. So South Carolina want to leave the United States if they did not change the taxes. Then Henry Clay passed a law and made the USA not go into a war.
