Education
Carter went to Georgia Southwestern Junior college, and joined the Naval ROTC program, and continued on to the Naval academy in in Annapolis, to study engineering. -
Family
Carter married his wife Rosalynn, and had three sons and one daughter. -
Early Career
Before Carter's election, he worked on Naval submarines and was the electronics officier on the USS Pomfret. For this time he lived in Pearl Harbor HI and worked through the naval base there. -
Political career
Became the state Senator of Georgia, and opened the path of a political career to Carter. -

His term lasted from Jan. 20, 1977- Jan. 20 1981, and he supported the Democratic Party. -
Oil Embargo
Carter's response to the capture of the American embassy in Iran when about 60 americans were held hostage was to impose an oil emnargo against Iran, until the control over the embassy was relinquished. -
Nobel Peace Prize
Carter was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for always attempting to solve international issues peacefully.
