    Joan of Ac was born in the small village of Domremy on January 6, 1412. Domremy is located in the northeastern side of France. Born to a deeply religious family of the peasant class, Joan of Arc was pious as well. Her faith and belifs guided her countless times throught her life as she faced difficult situations with immense bravery.     In the year of 1424, Joan of Arc first started hearing the voices of Angels. She was in her father's garden when she heard the voices of St. Michael, St. Catherine, and St. Margaret. At first the messages were general and personal but later they became more specific.     In the year 1429 the voices urged Joan to seek the ruler of France. They told her that it was her duty to drive the English out of France and make sure that King Charles stayed in power. Although Joan was scared, she knew that this was her divine duty and she was able to start her journey to see the king and save France.     Joan of Arc Arrives in Orleans
    On April 24,1429, Joan of Arc arrived in Orleans. After gianing the king's trust, she sked permission to head to Orleans at once so that she could support the soldiers who fought the English there. Upon arriving, Joan wanted to start fighting but many of the soldiers,who did not want to follow a woman's command, refused to go without proper planning.     Joan of Arc Defeats the English at Orleans
    On May 8, 1429,Joan of Arc defeats the English at the Battle of Orleans. After continuous fighting, the English finally retreat, making the French victorious. Joan of Arc is praised for her incredible bravery, without which the French would have never won the battle.     In the year 1430 the fisrt Dutch school was made. Two composers Gilles Binchois and Guillaume Dufay created the Franco-Flemish School for music especially polyphonic vocal music.     Joan of Arc is Captured

    Joan of Arc is Captured
    On May 23, 1430, Joan of Arc was captured by the Burgundians. While fighting one of the English allies, Burgundy, at Compiegne, Joan of Arc fell of her horse and was immediately captured by the Burgundians. This event is significant becuase after her capture Joan of Arc would never fight again and instead suffer in tiny jail cells gaurded by harsh soldiers. Source: (Williams 109-111)

    Joan Handed Over to the English
    On Novemeber, 1430, Joan of Arc was handed over to the English by the Burgandians. She was viewed as a heretic, or witch, by the English. Instead of being kept prisoner at a Church, Joan of Arc was kep in a dark cell till her trial. This event is important because Joan of Arc is treated very poorly in prison. She is constantly threatned by her guards and must suffer through many unjust trials after her capture. Source: (Lace 88)

    Joan Of Arc's Death
    On May 30,1431, Joan of Arc was burned on a stake. She was burned at many charges including dressing like a man and being a heretic, or a witch. This event is very significsnt becuase it was the end of Joan of Arc's life even though she was only nineteen years old.     Joan's Case is Reexamined

    Joan's Case is Reexamined
    On July 7, 1456, Joan's case was reexamined. Joan of Arc's mother had requested Joan's case to be looked over as she was sure that the case had not been just. King Charles VII granted permission to do so and 25 years after Joan of Arc's death she was declared innocent of all charges. This event is significant because Joan of Arc gets all her dignity back. Although she is dead her name is cleared and all the good deeds she had accomplished are recogonized. Source: (Williams 143)
