    Stalin came up with the five year plan to start industrializing the Soviet Union. He wanted increase in iron production and electrical power by the next five years. During this time prisoners carried out much of the labor working in factories and railroad companies. Stalin's first five year plan would be considered a success to many people. This would be a first step to leading the Soviet Union to one of the leading industrial nations.

    Stalin and the Russian army pushed out the German army in the Battle of Stalingrad. Stalin's Red Army helped take out Nazi Germany in WWII.
