    John Wilkes Booth performed for Lincoln. The first time he did so, Lincoln was very impressed. Lincoln had known about Booth before the assassination.
  • Attempted Kidnapping

    Booth had attempted to kindnap Lincoln and bring him to the Confederates. Booth was going to ask for all Prisoners of War to be released and sent back to the South. Somehow, things didn't go as planned, because the President did not show up.
  • Speculation

    John Wilkes Booth stayed in the McHenry House in Meadville, Pennsylvania a couple of times. In room 22, there was writing on the wall that read, "Abe Lincoln Departed This Life August 13th, 1864 By The Effects of Poison." People stood, wondering who would have wrote this. This drew more attention after the assassination .Fingers were pointed towards Booth when investigations showed, Booth's accoplice, David Henry, was a druggist's clerk who would have easy access to such Poison.

    The Confederate troops have left Richmond. It was a victory for the Union. President Lincoln gave a speech about voting rights for the free African Americans. Booth was enraged at this and said, "Now, by God, I'll put him through." He stuck true to his words.

    Booth was inspired by John Brown, a white abolitionist who was hanged for his crimes. He thought people in the South would praise him for killling the man who wanyed freedom for enslaved people. John Wilkes Booth was also motavated to kill Lincoln because he wanted to surpass one of his brothers, Edwin Booth -- a well known actor throughout the North.

    When Lincoln was elected for a second term in office, Booth was present at his inaugural adress. Lincoln talked about Negro sufferage. Booth said to his friends that attened with him, "That means . . . citizenship. That is the last speech he will ever make." Little did Lincoln know, Booth was right.

    After several failed attempts at kidnaping Lincoln, Booth became very frustrated. He snuck behind Lincoln at a play in Ford's Theater and shot him in the back of the head, thinking that the Confederates would praise him for it. He jumped from the Presidential Box, breaking his leg, and ran away, leaving the country in shock. John Wilkes Booth would be thought of, later, as a homegrown terrrorist.

    After riding away from the Theater, Booth made his way, on horseback, to Dr. Samuel Adams. On his way, he would go by houses and ask for shelter food and supplies. What he got was scraps and directions away from the owners of the home. The Doctor set his leg and Booth started off again, to Garrett's cabin in Port Royal, Virginia.

    When he got to the cabin, he was safe for a couple of hours, but then, the New York calvery officers reached the cabin. They shot Booth's compainion, Garrett, and finally, Booth, himself. Finally, the officer's set the cabin ablaze and made thier way back to the city. The people of the Union didn't care that John Wilkes Booth died that day.
