  • Birth

    Personal: I feel this is important because it marks the beginning of my journey to becoming the individual I am today.
  • Saved by Jesus

    Personal/Professional: Being saved has changed my heart by making me want to live to love others. This impacts my teaching career because I feel called to love young children by helping them learn and grow.
  • Started driving

    Personal/Professional: This is important to me because it marks a point and time in my life where I gained a tremendous amount of independence in the decision making about my life. This led to the ability to choose to become a teacher.
  • Became a college athlete.

    Personal: This is important to me because it is a goal that I set for myself and eventually achieved. It gave me confidence and encouraged me to continue to set goals and achieve them.
  • Graduated High School

    Professional: Graduating high school was the beginning of my journey to becoming an educator. It impacts my teaching career because it serves as a reference point of reflection on how I have grown in knowledge from then until now.
  • First practicum experience

    Professional: This was my first taste of observing a real classroom from the perspective of a future teacher. It impacts my teaching career because it opened my eyes to the importance educators hold in our community and world.
  • Accepted into the education program at Carson-Newman

    Professional: I see this moment as the foundation for my pursuit in a degree as an educator. It has impacted my teaching career by providing me with a valuable experience that taught me what interviews will be like when I graduate college and pursue a job.
  • Participated in the DII NCAA tournament for basketball

    Personal: This was also a major goal that I set for myself and achieved. It was yet another reminder that hard work and determination pay off in the pursuit of achieving goals.
  • Passed my first PRAXIS

    Professional: Passing my first PRAXIS was a reminder of how real it was becoming that my career would soon be starting. It has impacted my teaching career by providing confidence that I am being well prepared to be a teacher.
  • Entered BLOCK classes in the education program

    Professional: This marked the beginning of the end of my education of how to be a teacher. It has impacted my teaching career by helping me refocus my goals and motivate me to push through and finish strong to become the best teacher I can be.
