  • Cotton gin

    Eli Whitney created the cotton gin allowed seeds to be pulled out of cotton. The cotton gin cause and increase in cotton prodution and slavery, causing farmers to buy more slaves to produce more cotton.

  • Yazoo Land Fraud

    The legislators took bribes from four companies and sold illegal land with out any ones consent. On January 7, 1795, Georgia governor George Mathews signed the Yazoo Act, which gave 35 million acres to four companies, yet United States HAD to pay Georgia $1.25 million and removed as quickly as possible the remaining Native Americans in the state.
  • Land lottieries

    In 1803 Ga, began something that you could call a lottery for land. Commoners overhearing about the land lotteries were excited that they could win their dream land or their worst nightmare, yet they all knew there could be a down side to this lottery.

  • Sequoyah

    Sequoyah was a native that created a written language for natives thats was made up of syllables. The syllabary was rapidly adopted by a large number of Cherokees, making Sequoyah the only member of an uneducated group in human history to have come up with a system of writing. (myhistory.org)

    Gold was found in Dahlonega. The discovery of gold impacted the entire population creating obsessions over gold and the need to become rich.
  • John Ross

    Wrote a constitution that created laws for the natives to make them separate from the U.S., protecting them from having to move. Ross fought against the 1832 Georgia lottery, designed to give away the natives land, was the first of many political battles. He protected the natives from any removal.(new times encyclopedia)
  • Railroads

    Businessmen in Athens created a charter in 1833 for railroads. The creation of railroads led to a higher population in GA, and also the creation of Atlanta which led to also an increase in railroad building.
