  • Amir's first story

    In this point in time you realize Rahim Kahn is more of a father-like figure to Amir because of how much he promotes Amir's writing in his first piece. Rahim Kahn acts as a father to Amir by telling him how good of a writer Amir really is.
  • Winter 1975

    "I'll let you keep the kite, Hazara. I'll let you keep it in order to remind yu of what i'm about to do." (73) At this point in the book Hassan gets violated by Assef and Amir does nothing and just watches. This event practically ends their friendship which is why this is such a major event in the book.
  • Kites

    "We Won, We won." This day resembles how Amir and Hassan win the kite fighting tournament and is one of the final moments of their friendship. This is important because it is a symbol of Amir and Hassan bonding. This is a moment where Amir actually sees Hassan as a brother and not a servent.
  • Betrayal

    "Did you steal that oney ? Did you steal Amir's watch, Hassan?" (105)
    Hassan didn't steal Amir's birthday gifts he accepted this because of the fact that Amir was his friend and he didn't want to see Amir get punshed so he took credit for stealing the presents.
  • Ali and Hassan

    "'We are leaving Agha Ahib', We can't live here anymore'" (106)
    This is important to the plot of the book because Baba has to be separated from Ali who he grew up with and was apart of hs family. Hassan and Ali leave because of what happened to Hassan and how Amir just watched it happen.

    "I graduated high school at the age of twenty."Amir graduates high school and realizes that this is the first time he has ever seen Baba proud of him. This is one of the only times that Amir witnesses Baba proud of him.

    Al Qaeda and Osama Bin laden Bomb the World Trade center on American soil.
  • Steady Government

    Hamid Kazari was named chairman and first intern of government after the Taliban was defeated.
  • The Call

    "There is a way to be good again" (2) Rahim Kahn calls Amir telling him there is a way for him to repent for his previous sins of watching Hassan get violated and lying to Baba about hassan stealing from him.
  • Baba

    "We closed the door, Baba never woke up." (173) Baba dies of lung cancer and Amir feels Baba died proud of him and relievd of the pain he had been feeling previously. Amir is happy that Baba passes relieved of the pain he had been in terminally.
  • Marriage

    Amir takes Soraya's hand in marriage and they move in together and Soraya is infertile.
  • President

    Mr. Kazari was the first elected president for a five year term
  • Sohrab

    "Screaming through my clenched teeth." (343) Sohrab attempts suicide by cutting himself with a razor blade in the bathtub because he will have to go back to the orphanage, and will be hurt by the awful people there again.
  • Return of the kite

    "For you, a thousand times over." (371)Sohrab and Amir fly kites in golden gate park and this is the first time Amir runs a kite and Sohrab smiles for the first time after his suicide attempt.
  • More troops

    Obama announces his plan to deploy 30,000 extra U.S soldiers in Afganistan.

    Obama makes it a priority to bring troops home from Iraq

    The extra troops Obama was planning to deploy caused people to presume victory.
