    Sugar Act
    The Sugar Act of 1764 was a tax for the colonists from Great Britain on imported sugar and molasses from France, England, Spain, and the West Indies. This act arrived while the colonies were under an economic depression, and as a result businesses and New England Port's especially went under.
  • Stamp Act

    Stamp Act
    This act made it so whenever someone needed to validate a liscense or contract they would recquire a government tax stamp.
    By recieving the stamp it shows that you have succesfully paid your taxes.

    This act made by the King of England stated that colonists were recquired to house British troops if they recquired a place to stay.
    This act was seen as yet another attack on the colonists rights and was met with resistance from the colonies.

    Declaration of Rights and Grievances
    This declaration declared that taxes imposed on colonists without their consent was flat out unconstitutional and wrong. This declaration stated that congress agreed to let parliament regulate trade over here in the colonies.

    An act from parliament that accompanied the repeal of the stamp act. The declaration stated that English law expanded over the colonies and that the colonies were expected to obey English law.

    An act that put a tax on items such as lead, paper, glass, and tea imported from Great Britain. The act was met with great resistance from the colonies prompting the prescense of british troops in Boston which later led to what we know as the "Boston Massacre".

    An event that took place in the streets of Boston in which a mob of people threw snowballs at British soldiers and ended with the soldiers firing into the crowd killing 5, and injurying many more.

    Taxed the colonists on imported tea. The outcome of this act was anger and outrage, especially in Boston. This act would eventually lead to the event known as "The Boston Tea Party" which was directly caused by the Tea Act.

    An where a group of people disguised themselves as indians and marched into boston harbor boarding the ships and began to break open chests full of tea and dumping it into the ocean in protest of the Tea Act. ( No one was harmed during this event.)

    Also known as the "Intolerable Acts" were Laws passed with the intention to punish the angry and rebellious colonists. The acts from Great Britain would take away MA right of self-government which sparked outrage among the colonies.
  • First Continental Congress Meeting

    First Continental Congress Meeting
    In this meeting an agreement was made to give each colony one vote despite differences in size. 12 delegates from the colonies were present. The meeting was caused directly by the coercive acts which were bestowed on the colonies as a result of The Boston Tea Party.
