    Foundation

    It was founded in 1051 as a cave monastery outside of Kiev.

    Reconstruction

    In 1416 it was burned by the Horde under the leadership of Yedigey during the attack on Kyiv. Rebuilt in 1470

  • UNESCO World Heritage Site

    In 1994, together with St. Sophia Cathedral, it was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
