Dread Scott v. Sandford
This case defined the current rights of the African American people. It was determined by the Supreme Court that they couldn't be citizens due to having African ancestors. This took away all constitutional rights for african american people. -
13th amendment
This amendment emancipated slaves and allowed them to be free. They were not given every right and were still treated as slaves without being slaves. -
14th amendment
This amendment defines citizenship and protects it from being infringed upon. Also claims due process to protect granted government rights from states. -
15th amendment

This amendment put one of the multiple unfair tests of poll taxing to rest making it a little easier to vote for poorer people. -

Prohibits all forms of discrimination. From Race and Skin Color to Religion and Sex. Landmark document that got signed into action during civil rights movement. -
Voting Rights Act
Finally ended the rest of the discriminatory activities that prevented people from being able to vote. No more Literacy tests or grandfather clause. -
