    Doolittle's Raid
    Doolitt'es Raid was an air attack launched by the aircraft carrier Hornet, led by Colonel James H. Doolittle. This raid was concieved as a diversion to boost Allied morale, but to their suprise it created a strategic benefit far greater than expected. This battle forced Japan to recall some of its units back to the home island. Doolittle's Raid did little material damage only eight primary targets were struck and five secondary. This was considered a propoganda victory for America.

    The Battle of Coral Sea was a major naval battle in the Pacific Theater between the Japanese Imperial Navy and the Allied naval and air forces from America and Australia. Fought May 4th - 8th 1942.The Japanese attempted to strengthen their defensive positioning by occupying Port Moresby in New Guinea. This battle was a Japanese tactical victory and an Allied strategical victory.

    The Battle of Midway was fought June 4th- 7th 1942. This battle is regarded the most important battle of the Pacific Campaign. The United States decisively defeated the Japanese Imperial Army inflicting irreparable damage. The American Navy had an advantage because codebreakers were able to decipher the date and location of the attack, aiding in their victory, making this the turning point on the war on the Pacific Front.

    The Battle of Guadalcanal was faught August 7th, 1942 - February 9th, 1943. Codenamed the Operation Watchtower by the Allied forces, was the first major Allied offensive against Japan. The Guadalcanal Campaign was inteded as a support campaign and eventually neutralize the Japanese base at Rabual. The ended in a clear Allied strategic victory

    Battle of Saipan
    This battle was fought June 15th, 1944 - July 9th, 1944. On June 13th, 1944 the bombardment of Saipan began, fifteen battleships were involved and 165,00 shells were fired. On June 15th is when they began to land on the island. More than 8,00 Marines had landed on the west coast of Saipan by 9:00 AM. It resulted in an American victory. Although there were 2,949 Americans killed and 10, 364 Americans wounded. The Empire of Japan had 24,000 killed, 5,000 suicides, and 921 prisoners.

    Operation Detachment, was fought from February 19th, 1945 - March 26, 1945. This was a major battle where the united states fought and captured the island of Iwo Jima from the Japanese. The United States invaded with the mission of capturing 3 airfields on the island, and resulted in some of the fiercest fighting on the Pacific Front. It was a decisive American Victory. The United States had 6,821 killed or missing, 2 captured, and 19,217 wounded. The Japanese had 21, 844 killed and 216 captured

    Operation Iceberg was fough April 1, 1945 - June 21, 1945. After a long campaign of island hopping, the Allies were approaching Japan, and planned to use Okinawa as a base for air operations on the planned invasion of Japanese mainland. The nickname for this battle is "Typhoon of Steel" this name refers to the ferocity of the fighting and the intensity of the kamikaz attacks. It was an Allied victory, but had 12,513 killed, 38,916 wounded, and 33,096 non-combat losses. Japan had 95,000+ killed.
