  • Brown v Board of Education

    Racial segregation was ruled as unconstitutional. This started a huge push for equality in the U.S. education system.
  • Lev Vygotsky

    Vtgotsky's book, Thought and Language was introduced to English-speaking countries. He shapes how the U.S. teaches children through looking at a child's social circle.
  • Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965

    President Johnson provides more federal funds for children in poverty through this act. Launches Title 1 and bilingual education.
  • Project Head Start

    Project Head Start is started. It is a widely successful pre-school program offered to low-income families. It still improves literacy today.
  • Children's Literacy Association

    ChLA was founded in 1973. The association is a non profit organization that is dedicated to academic advancement in children's literature.
  • Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing

    Typing Software is now being used in classrooms
  • No Child Left Behind Act

    This act created measurable standards for education and held schools accountable.
  • Common Core Standards

    Common Core creates a set of standards that each child should meet after completing a grade level.
  • COVID-19

    All learning at this time has changed to adapt to a world during a pandemic. Schools are doing online learning and cycle days.
