    Although Antonio Meucci proposed the idea of the "Telephone", Alexander Graham Bell was credited with the invention. Bell was given the exclusive right (Patent) granted for the Telephone in the U.S. after Meucci failed to renew his caveat. Bell then became the "Father of the Telephone".
