Planning the Hideout
Avrum and Meyer Korenblit have been plainning a hideout from the Nazi's for a very long time. Josef Wisiniewski's has been he,lping them come up with a hiding place. Meyer goes to Josef and he says that the hideout is ready, they can start packing. -
Korenblit's leave to their 1st Hideout
The Korenblit's are very nervous but excited to get into their hideout. They must leave in the night, so they won't get caught by the Nazi's. They hide in Josef Wisniewski's secong floor attic/ loft. -
Korenblit's go to Their 2nd Hideout
Josef Wisiniewski's tell them that their hidout is ready. Now Meyer's girlfriend, Manya has come along with the family. They leave to their hideout, it is a house underground. Avrum and Josef built the house underground together. -

Seven Days in the Haystack and Josef is Missing
For seven nights Josef has came to the hideout to bring the family food. One night Josef had not coem to bring the food, the Korenblits are terrified of what might have happened. Josef turns up and he tells them that the Germans are watching everyone and people are being killed for being in suspicion of helping Jews. -
A New Way
Meyer finds out that the Germans don't want to kill, they need workers. If the Jews come out they will give them work and won't kill them. Meyer goes to work and Manya,Chaim and Toba will go when Meyer says that it is safe enough for them. -
Manya and Meyer work
Manya and Meyer are now working. They each have their own different jobs, they have a house at the Ghetto and they are sharing it with two other people, Sam and Leon. Manya makes food everyday for everyone at her house. Chaim is nowhere to be found and Toba went back to her family. -
Betrayal
Meyer finds out that Anna has betrayed him. She has reported him to the general, Herr Wegner, she told him what their plan is. Now, the Germans are hunting Meyer like they've never hunt anyone before. They are searching everyone's houses especially Manya's. Wagner asked her if she new where Meyer was and she said no. -
A Decent Plan
Meyer is working and he sees a family friend, Anna. He tells her that they really want to get out if the Ghetto. She says to bring them all the valuable stuff they have and she will exchange them or sell them for passports and money. -
Bad News
Manya is working and she over hears General Wagner, General of the Nazis, saying that they are looking for Meyer Korenblit. Manya quickly goes to where Meyer is working and tell him what she has heard, Meyer goes to a family friend's house, John Salki. Meyer tell him that hhe thinks they are looking for himbecause he had a gun in his house. John Salki told him to never have a weapon because they see that as an insult. For the next few days, Manya goes to John Salki's house to see Meyer. -
Meyer Leaves
Tomitzki and Isaac Achler, both family friends, have an idea. Their idea is to get Meyer a ppassport and to make him seem like if he's a Pole. They will change his name to Antonio Tomitzki and he will leave to Chelm and from there he will go to another city. He promised Manya and Chaim that he will come back for them and they will all leave together. -
Meyer travels to Many Places and goes back
Meyer goes to a train station and he takes the train toa city called Chelm. He stays at an inexpensive hotel for a few days. Then, he goes to Lubin, Radom, Ostrowiecd and lastly Zamosc. Meyer goes back to Hrubieszow. Manya had gotten the new and she went and saw Meyer she was so excited. Meyer had to leave again because he didn't want to get caught. -
Manya's last pieces fall apart
Wagner calls all the Jews to come. Manya and her friend Esther are walking on the german sidewalk and wagner sees them. He shoots Esther and tells Manya to bury her with her hands. It is time for Jews to deported, they don't know where they are being taken, but Chaim is one of them that gets taken somewhere. He gets into the truck and Manya watches it as it leaves and she may never know if she will see him again. -
Devastating News for Meyer
Meyer has been traveling and he has just found out that his father, Avrum, is in very bad condition. Avrum was beat with a metal bar in the head and the Nazi's did this to him. Meyer has to try to wake his father up, he is in a very bad coma. The next morning he goes to the rooma nd the nurse tells him that his father has passed away.Meyer makes arrangements for his father's burial. John Salki also tells him that a mother and three girls were shot, they may be his family. -
Deportation
Meyer and Manya are together and teh General calls all the Jews. Their is another deportation that is going to occur at taht moment. Manya and Meyer are sent in a truck together and they were sent to Budzyn, a concentration camp. Meyer and Manya were separated and they made a promise to each other that they would meet each other again in Hrubieszow. Manya is again deported to another concentration camp, Meyer stays in Budzyn. -
Another Deportation
Manya and many if the girls that she has met in the other camps are being deported to another camp, they don't know where they are going. Manya gets a tattoo on her wrist that says KL and while Manya is there, Meyer also gets deported to the same camp but she doesn't know. The name of the camp is Mielecz and it is located in Poland. -
The Brutal Beating and Good Came out of it
Meyer is now in another camp and the people are being assigned jobs. Meyer is workwing in a mountain driving a truck. Meyer is driving the truck and he falls asleep while driving the truck. The SS officers found him and they took him to the major, Herr Oberfuhrer, and he beats him until he is bleeding. A man named Harr Wagner helps Meyer and Manya because he is just a nice man. He gets them extra food and makes sure that their friends are eating enough as well. -
Many Deporatations
Meyer and Manya have been deported many,many times now. Meyer is in a camp called Leitmeritz and Manya is in a camp called Auschwitz, it was one of the largest camps of its kind. Manya has gotten beaten because an SS officier has found a diary that she has been keeping. They beat her with a whip and they told her to kneel on the cold snow and stay there. -
Liberty
Meyer and his friends see that there is a small gap in the wired barriers in the camp, they come up witha very smart idea. They will all go out one by one and go to the farm house that a few miles away from the camp. They hide there until they have a chance to go somewhere else. -
Freedom For everyone and Reunion
Meyer and his friends are in the farmer's house and all of a sudden they see that there are military trucks passing by and they have a colorful flag which means that they are free.The Russsian soldiers have all the food and clothes that the women can have.Meyer takes a train to Hrubieszow and a friend tells him that Manya is there and that she is alive. Manya and Tovah were staying with a family friend named Motl Reese. Meyer and Manya were reunited and they kept their promises to each other.
