    A Legend was Born
    In Porbandar, Kathiawar, India, (part of British empire), on October 2, 1869, Mahatma Gandhi was born. He was born into a poor family, his mother was deeply religious and his father was chief minister. They made sure Mahatma had a good education, along with a good nurse. During his teenage years he showed signs of being rebellious, however they soon ended quickly, as that did not fly by his parents. Shortly after Mohandas, goes to United Kingdom.

    Alexander Graham Bell invents the telephone. The Scottish American Scientist was trying to invent a tool for the deaf when instead he invented the telephone. This is major world wide because this new technology lead to many incredible and brilliant technology advances. It made communication much easier as well.

    Gandhi goes to Inner Temple Las School, on June 1, 1891, located in United Kingdom. Here he passes his bar exam to become a lawyer. However, he finds out his mother passed away when he lands back home from the United Kingdom. After these events Gandhi starts to show his peaceful strategies in conflicts.

    On January 1, 1893, in South Africa, Gandhi sits first class on the train, with his (valid) first class ticket. He is kicked off the train, for no other reason than discrimination towards Indians at the time. This experience first speaks Gandhi to resolve racial discrimination.

    The Right to Vote
    In 1894, Gandhi was in South Africa when he found the Natal Indian Congress, that denied the right for Indians to vote there. Gandhi opposed to this and called an immediate end. This event may have passed but Gandhi still gave attention to Indian Injustices, going as far from India to the U.K. just to study more on it. Gandhi is now moving on to begin his way of fighting with peace.

    Gandhi Refuses to Press Charges
    On January 1897, Gandhi arrives in Durban Harbor, South Africa. As he lands, he is instantly attacked by a mob of white settlers. When the police cheif's wife saw this action she immediately called the police, saving Gandhi'a life. Just because there was media involved the police have to arrest the members, they wouldn't have if there was no attention. However, Gandhi refuses to press chargers and in return he gains public admiration, support and a public apology.

    Racial Conflict in the U.S.
    US President Theodore Roosevelt invites African American leader Booker T. Washington to the White House on October 16, 1901. Many southern whites react angrily to the visit. In the South racial violence increases. This was important because President Roosevelt was trying to make a kind gesture and settle racial violence, however southerns acted poorly to the situation and taugh Americas that was still a major problem that had to be fixed.

    Britain and France end almost a thousand years of conflict with the signing of a treaty, The Entente Cordiale. This event is significant because it ended a major conflict in the world. The countries can now ally together and become powerful. They both can help each other out and make the world a better, suitable place.

  • Registration Card Protest

    Registration Card Protest
    Prior to the next event in Gandhi's life, the colonial government enacts the "Asian Population Registration Act". All Indians had to give their personal information and apply it to their registration card. Two years later on August 1908, Gandhi and 2,000 other protesters burn their cards in protest. Gandhi is arrested along with other leaders and is sentenced jail time for 6 years. This will lead to his next imprisonment.

    Imprisonments
    A new law by British was the Salt Act, this did not allow Indians make their own salt, if they did they were put in jail for three years. 61 year old Gandhi, did not approve of this. Ew law and traveled 200 miles for 24 days, on foot, to Dandi. There he made his own salt. He was soon imprisoned. 12 years later Gandhi declares a campaign to announce India's independence from British and is imprisoned once again.

  • Hunger Strike

    Hunger Strike
    While Gandhi was imprisoned he began a hunger strike at 73 years old in 1942. His hunger strike lasted 21 days when there was fear of his health and he would die in prison. He along with other leaders are released. This event leads to India becoming an independent nation.

    A rocket launched from the United States goes through the earth's atmosphere and coasts to a distance of 80 kilometers. This event is considered important because it showing the growth of technology in the U.S. This new technology will lead to the exploration of new objects in space and expand our knowledge.

    Gandhi's Last
    At 77 Gandhi starts another fast on January 12, 1948. This is because he wanted to establish peace for sheltering those in need with Pakistan. Five days into the fast India makes a payment to Pakistan and religious leaders agree to renounce violence and call for peace. This is Gandhi's last event before his death.

  • The End of a Legacy

    The End of a Legacy
    On January 30, 1948, a member from the Hindu Organization killed Mohandas Karmchand Gandhi. He did not agree with Gandhi's peacemaking efforts. He was shot on his way from making prayers, however he will never be forgotten and his nonviolent tactics will live on and carry on.
