  • Sioux Wars

    The Sioux Wars were a series of conflicts between the United States and various subgroups of the Sioux people which occurred in the later half of the 19th century.
  • Sand Creek Massacre

    On November 29, 1864, 675 U.S. volunteer soldiers who were commanded by Colonel John M. Chivington attacked a village of around 750 Cheyenne and Arapaho Indians along Sand Creek in southeastern Colorado Territory.
  • Great Sioux Battle

    The Great Sioux War of 1876, also known as the Black Hills War, was a series of battles and negotiations which occurred in 1876 and 1877 between the Lakota Sioux and the Northern Cheyenne vs. the United States. The cause of the war was the desire of the U.S. government to obtain ownership of the Black Hills.
  • Wounded Knee Massacre

    The slaughter of approximately 150–300 Lakota Indians by United States Army troops. This was the last conflict between the Indians and Americans.
