After the Invasion of Iraq by Iran, Iran negotiated for peace in exchange for realizing the hostages. This event is known as the beginning of a strong hated relationship between Iran and the United States.

    In response to the Invasion of Kuwait by Iraq, a coalition force of 35 countries lead by the United States moved against Iraq. The coalition achieved decisive and quick victory against Iraq. Kuwait was liberated and reinstated and Iraq was humiliated with reparations. The war is known for using advanced and modern technology and weapons.

    The Soviet Union, after democratic ideas were being integrated into the country by Mikhail Gorbachev, collapsed. Many Eastern communist countries revolted with new governments and declared independence during this time period. The Russian Federation and 13 more new countries were born out of the dust of the great Communist Superpower. The collapse of the Soviet Union officially ended the Cold War.

    4 coordinated and well planned attacks agains the United States were commenced by Islamic extremist (Al-Qaeda) on September 11, 2001. Two planes crashed into the Twin Towers in New, York, collapsing both towers. Another crashed into the Pentagon in Washington D.C., with another failing to reach its target in Washington D.C. after being crashed in Pennsylvania by an uprising form the passengers. The attack caused around 3,000 American casualties and the beginning of the "War on Terrorism."
