The Russian Federation and 13 more new countries were born out of the dust of the great Communist Superpower. The collapse of the Soviet Union officially ended the Cold War. -
September 11 Attacks
4 coordinated and well planned attacks agains the United States were commenced by Islamic extremist (Al-Qaeda) on September 11, 2001. Two planes crashed into the Twin Towers in New, York, collapsing both towers. Another crashed into the Pentagon in Washington D.C., with another failing to reach its target in Washington D.C. after being crashed in Pennsylvania by an uprising form the passengers. The attack caused around 3,000 American casualties and the beginning of the "War on Terrorism."
