When Mobs of white Tulsa, Oklahoma, residents attacked Black Residents in the Greenwood District. This area was known as the wealthiest Black community in the US. Also referred to “Black Wall Street.” The white residents dropped bombs, set businesses on fire, beat black residents to death, and destroyed nearly thirty five square blocks. -

The Ford Motor Company in Detroit made the Model T. Ford, the first affordable car. Ford produced more than a million automobiles, at a rate of one per minute! Each car cost $335. -
President Harding dies and Coolidge becomes President
Coolidge tried to fix Harding’s mistakes. He first instituted the laissez faire, which stated that business would act in a way that would benefit the nation. He was what people called an isolationist, because he wanted to stay out of other nations' problems except for self- defense. -
Ku Klux Klan is reborn
The KKK believed that America should be racially pure, which means they discriminated the blacks. The Klu Klux Klan had over 5 million members in 1924. It tried persuade politics by using violence, but by the end of the decade the Klan began to decline. -

The first Winter Olympics takes off on this date, held in Chamonix, France. This event was a great success, attracting 10,004 paying spectators. -

Nellie Tayloe Ross was elected as governor of Wyoming, and Miriam "Ma" Ferguson for Texas. This was a big deal for women, because it took 50 years for an equal rights amendment to be passed in Congress. -
