Malala begins blogging about being under Taliban rule. The first girl who volunteered to blog had to back out because her parents were afraid for her, so, Malala decided to take her place. Malala won Pakistan's National Youth Peace Prize. She won for speaking out against the Taliban because they insisted that girls could not go to school. -

Malala was shot in the head by a Taliban gunman on her way home from school. -

After being shot and recovering from her injuries, Malala insisted on returning to school to finish her studies in Birmingham, England. -

Wins Nobel Peace Prize
Malala wins Nobel Peace Prize for her work in speaking out against the Taliban and speaking up for girls rights to an education. She became the youngest person to win the Noble Peace Prize at age 17.
