753 BC. Rome was created in the middle of a peninsula. Romulus and Remus, twin brothers who were raised by a she-wolf, founded the city of Rome in 753 BC. -

Rome Becomes a Republic
509 BC. The Etruscans ruled Rome until 509 BC. In 509 BC the Romans revolted and threw out the king. Insted of a monarchy, the Romans established a new government known as a republic. -

Problems in the Late Republic
By the mid-100s BC, Romans found themselves faced on all sides by problems. The responsibilites of running their vast holdings stretched the Roman political system to its limits. A revolution grew and put pressure on Roman political and social institutions. -

The First Triumvirate
60 BC. Julius Caesar, Gnaeus Pompey, and Licinius Crassus were the first triumvirate. Caesar and Pompey were both great military commanders who had brought lots of territory to the Republic. Crassus was a very rich man. -

Second Triumvirate
43 BC. Octavion, Marc Antony, and Lepidus took power. Octavion was Caesar's adopted son and heir. Marc Antony was a loyal officer. Lepidus was was the high priest. -

The Pax Romana
27 BC- 180 AD. From the beginning of Augustus's reign in 27 BC until the death of the last of the Good Emperors in AD 180. The Pax Romana is also known as the Roman Peace. During the Pax Romana there was rarely any wars or invasions. -

Christianity and Judaism
7 BC. Over time, the teachings of Jesus of Nazareth developed into Christianity. Many of the teachings came from the beliefs and customs of Jesus and his earliest followers, the teaching of Judaism. -

Roman Empire Weakens
180 AD. The inability of the Roman army to stop the Hunswas a weakness, they started to obtain weak leaders, and also had many economic troubles such as inflation. -

The Early Christian Church
100 AD. Christian church's began to rise. The earliest Christian churches were not only spirtitual organizations but also close-knit communities. They provided support for their members, from burial services to food and shelter. -

Invasion and Fall of Roman Empire
300 - 400 AD. The Huns first invaded the West and eliminated them and put fear into them. The Germanic tribes took over most of the western provinces, including Italy. Finally, the barbarian commander Odoacer overthrew the last emperor in the West. That was considered the end of the Western Roman Empire by many historians. The East wasn't invaded but it soon changed into the Byzantine Empire.
