    Marie Curie, In her joint work with the likes of Henri Becquerel, Pierre Curie, were announced as the winners of the Nobel Prize for Physics due to their group discoveries and also contributions to their discoveries and research on the understanding of the "radiation phenomena"

  • Pierre Curie dies

    Pierre tragically passed away after being trampled over by a horse drawn cart. Marie replaced his position as a teacher and professor at Sorbonne University. Marie was also the first female professor at the university.
  • Wins Nobel prize for chemistry

    Marie is awarded her second Nobel Prize, this time for chemistry in discovering radium and polonium, and also isolating radium. She was the first-ever person to win Two Nobel Prizes, whilst also achieving them in two different fields (chemistry and Physics)

    Marie and her sister opened a research facility in the fight against cancer. It is still in operation today and is known as the Marie Sklodowska Curie Oncology Center.

    Marie passes away due to an aplastic anemia at the age of 66

    Marie Curie is now reburied in the Pantheon, (of which is France’s national mausoleum), becoming the first women to ever have been accorded that honor on her own merit.
