    Peary and Matt ran into the Big Lead that was as wide and as fearful when they saw in 1906.

    The Eskimos were still beside the Big Lead While they were there Matt worked on the sledges.

    On March11 the Big Lead frozen over with ice it was -45 degrees, so the men hurried.

    Ross Marvin turned back on March 26 at 86 degrees 38 minutes.

    Matt kicked out his snow door and Bartlett was floating away on the snow island floating down the lead and then he got his dogs ready and got to safety.

    Bartlett turned to go back on April 1, at 87 degrees ,46 minute.

    Peary started on foot , then rode sledges.
  • Broke Through

    Broke Through
    Matt's team came to the lead on April 3 that was covered with thin ice. Matt drove over it then his runners broke through but the dogs pulled him to safety.
  • 35 Miles till the top of the world

    Peary stopped and calculated he was at 89 degrees, 25 minute. Only 35 miles till the top of the world.
  • Top of the World

    Matt and Peary and there team of Eskimos.

    The team made it back to Cape Columia.It was the first time in 68 days the expedtion members could relax.
