Vladek is introduced to his future wife, Anja
Summary: Vladek meets Anja and falls in love with her at first sight. Even though she wasn't the prettiest girlthis was the beginning of Vladek and Anja's relationship.
Character development (Positive): This is the start of something important in his life. He finally has someone he can look after and love for.
Theme: He was very lucky to be able to meet Anja, his future wife. Life gave him a wonderful mouse that he enjoys being around. -
Vladek gets drafted into the army
Summary: Vladek has to part ways with Anja after she gets over her depression and becomes a polish soldier
Character development (negative): Vladek has to leave Anja as soon as they got back and worries about her.
Theme: Everything happens for a reason so luckily Vladek became a polish soldier in order to protect the one he truly loves. He pushes through these tough times thinking about Anja -
Vladek was almost shot and killed in a forest along with 600 other Jews
Summary: The Nazi's unloaded them from a bus and made them march into the forest to get shot down. Because Vladek was a prisoner of war, he was fortunate enough to get taken in by a family
Character Development(Posistive): Vladek managed to live another day by pure luck and he is very thankful for it
Theme: As a prisoner of war, Vladek was able to be taken into another family and stay there safe. This is just another part of life's ups and downs. -
Vladek's parents are deported to auschwitz
Summary: Vladek became depressed, as his parents played da big role in his life.
Character development(negative): With the loss of his parents, Vladek is forced to be independent and live without the most important people in his people.
Theme: Life, of course, goes on and people can't live forever so you have to move on. -
Vladek and Anja get transported to auschwitz
Summary: Vladek gets seperated from the love of his life and the one person he pushes through every day for.
Character development(negative) :Vladek is alone and isolated from all the people he cares about and he doesn't know what to do except hope for better.
Theme: Good things don't last forever in life but you shouldn't think about the those memories forever. -
