    On September 6th 1620 The nearly 180 ton ship called the Mayflower started their voyage from Plymoth, England to Virginia with about 100 pilgrims aboard. They wanted to make their own colony in the U.S.On Nov. 11 41 of the passengers signed the famous “Mayflower Compact” in the Cape Cod harbor.Led by William Bradford, assigned to select a place for permanent settlement, landed at what is now Plymouth, Mass. This effects us today because that document provided Freedom of Speech and Religion.

    G.B was again trying to pass high taxes on the U.S after losing the battle over the stamp act.     Johnny Appleseed spent 49 years planting apple trees in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Pennsylvania and Ohio. His dream was a world with no hunger, and blossoming trees everywhere. After 200 years, some of those trees still bear apples. This is important to our lives today because he planted some of the very first trees/apple trees.

    The people of America were angy because they had to pay high taxes to the King of England.The king sent an army to America his army tried to make the colonists pay taxes. The colonists wanted to be free from England so they started a war with the English army in 1775.France helped the Americans during the war and they won in the year of 1783. We chose this event because if we wouldn't have fought the war and won, we would still belong to England, and have to pay very high taxes.

    Thirteen Colonies declared themselves independent of the Kingdom of Great Britain. This all started when King James raised taxes on tea. America started to protest and split into two groups the Loyalists,and the Patriots.The Patriots than raded a ship that was carrying tea from England to America and threw the tea over board.This all lead to a big war, w/the patriots getting their independence.This is important to us today because if the patriots woldnt have dumped the tea we would belong to Eng

    France offered Louisiana to Tohmas Jefferson. He was very intreaged but didnt know if it would break the Constitution. He had the congress pass a legislation that gave him permission to sign the treaty. Later the congress had to streach the Constitution to fit new circumstances and solve the dilemma. This is very important to our lives today because some people, if they wanted to live in Louisiana they would belong to France and would have to live by thier rules/laws.

    The Civil War was a war fought between the North (Union States) and the South (Confederate states). It lasted from 1861-1865 and it was triggered by the election of Abraham Lincon who wanted to end slavery. The North wanted the South to give up their farms, build factories, and abolish slavery. It all started because of their diff. ways of living.If we had never resolved this conflict we would still be in war.

    Abraham Lincolin issued 2 executive orders. The 1st was on September 22, 1862 and declared the freedom of all slaves in any state of the Confederate States of America. The 2nd January 1, 1863 and gave the name of 10 specific states where it would apply. This is important to our lives today because A.L. started freeing the slaves, and that went on to lead us to a country free of slavery.

    England taxed America and americans were very angry so they dressed up like indians and dumped all of Englands tea into the harbor, England wasnt happy and the war of independance started. This is important to our lives today because England could have not only put taxes on tea, but on everything. We also may not have gotten away from King James. This all leaded to the Declaration of Independance

    He was a christian man and wanted to find a far away island to tell about God.He also wanted wealth for himself and for Spain, and he wanted to be famous.He tried for eight years to get King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella to supply him with ships and money. Finally they agreed.His ships were named Santa Maria,the Pinta and the Nina.He was ready to sail in 4 months.He left Spain on August 3, 1492. This is very important to us because if he wouldnt have left Spain he wouldnt have found America.
