Even though the television was in development for many years, the first ever colored television was released in 1950. Much like the radio, the television was an advancement in news and entertainment. Companies could advertise their products right in peoples homes and footage over international affairs (like the Vietnam war) are shown. The television became the main source of entertainment and news for several decades before the internet was invented. -

The internet originally was created in the 1960s for scientists to communicate and experiment with telecommunications. It wasn't until the 1990's that the internet became public. The internet became a hit allowing people instant news right to their homes. Another hit was electronic mail (e-mail) allowing people instant communication. Today, two decades later, you can now stream music, movies, and tv shows as well as shop online. The internet began simple, but now is a global and complex system.
