Media Studies:Magazine coursework

  • Research

    Started my research and analysed music magazine covers and their features. I analysed them for inspiration an ideas but also to identify common layouts and colour schemes. This has helped me to find out what music genres are most popular and what sells the most.

  • Completed analysing all of my chosen magazine covers

    I finished analysing magazine covers and then began browsing for double page spreads to analyse along with a contents page to gather some final ideas for my own project.

  • Analysed 2 double page spreads

    After analysing 4 front covers, I then analysed 2 double page spread and analysed what camera shots were used, what fonts were used and what size the fonts were.

  • Looked at different music magazines

    I then looked at different music magazines to find what common techniques were used to make it eyecatching and appeal to certain audiences.

  • Completed my research

    I completed all of my research and then made some amendments to it after some constructive feedback from my peers and from some friends.

  • Planning

    I then started my planning and chose some fonts which I might use and some magazine names. This was harder than I thought as there aren't many unique and new music names which could appeal to my target audience.

  • Planning continued

    Sketch out the layouts for my magazine and made a final desicions on my font choice, colours and names.

  • Photo's

    I then took some photo's for my front cover, contents page and double page spread. The camera I used was amazing as it could blur out the background but then focus on the person itself. I took several long shots, close ups and mid shots.

  • Editing my photo's

    I then edited all of my photos by using an online photo editor called Fotor. I have used the photo editor previouly for my own personal projects and for work. I also narrowed the amount of photos to 25 pictures for my front cover, double page spread and contents page.

  • Putting it all together

    After editing all of my pictures I then started to put it altogther using Microsoft Publisher. It took me time to choose my final layout and colours due to the constructive criticism I was receiving from my peers and teachers.

  • Taking photos

    I then took some photos of my local area which represented music for my contents page.

  • Completed my front cover, contents page and double page spread.

    I then completed all of my front cover, contents page and double page spread. This took some time to complete as I found it hard to decide what I wanted my final project to look like.

  • Evaluation

    Started my evaluation and complted it within 3 days.
