    Battle of Hastings
    The Battle of Hastings brought feudalism to England, and brought Europe's customs to England. The important people during this time was William the Conqueror and Harold Godwinson.

    Crusades

    The crusades were meant for the Roman Catholics to get Jerusalem. A lot of peasants were sent to fight, and they were promised immidiate salvation in heaven. As for the knights they could own the land they counquered, and they werre able to fight. Pope Urban the II wanted to reunite the western and eastern side and make it one. He also wanted his knights to stop fighting agaisnt each other but to be untited and fight other people. His main goal was to get the Holy land back.

    Abbot Suger and St. Denis
    Abbot Suger made St. Denis during his life time, he wanted it to be a modern church and very unique. The style he made the church is now caled Gothic. The doors are pointed at the top making it have more windows at the bottom, and it had colored windows so when the sun was shining through the windows it looked really cool. It had a high roof and many little rooms for praying.

    Both crowned king and queen of England. Ruled from borders of Scotland all the way to Spain. Henry makes Eleanor his home prisoner after supporting her sons to be rebellious agaisn their father, after cheating on Eleanor with a younger girl.

    Ricard the Lionhearted
    King Richard and King Phillip lead the third crusade. Richard was capture by Germans while on hsi way home after the crusade. Eleanor gave the money to take Richard back and named him King. Phillip got very upset, so theyhad a war. Ricard died of an arrow , so John became king.

    He becomes Henry's chancellor which is a person who advises him and helps him make laws and is like a secretary. He got murdered in Canterbury Cathedral.

    Francis of Assisi founded the first order of the Friars in 1209. His friars were known as the Franciscans, and they lived in towns and taught christianity to the people there.
