  • First-The start

    First-The start
    starting out he joined the state militia. Lewis started fight around the age of 20 when he started fighting with the militia. He helped stop a rebellion by farmers in Pennsylvania who fought back against taxes in 1794.

    One year later he worked with a guy we know named Clark that would work in a great expedition with him. After the militia he joined the real army in 1801 and went all the way to the rank of captain and was well known because soon later he was asked by Jefferson to be his private secretary.

    Jefferson soon after gave another offer to Lewis which was to lead the biggest expedition America has had yet. This small country that was eager to find what is out there from the purchase from France made Lewis accept the offer just like that. Jefferson wanted Lewis to find new animals plants and the natives of that region.

    Lewis went to a guy named Clark that he used to work under to be a co leader in the expedition. They spent a whole several months looking at how to map make to make sure they get every spec of this new land. They were ready in may of 1804 and was gonna head out that month.
  • Fifth-The Exspedition

    Fifth-The Exspedition
    In may of 1804 Lewis went with the now called Corps of Discovery by many historians. They started near St louis in Missouri where they faced many harsh conditions with illness, disease, harsh water, hunger and weather. They pretty much faced every obstacle in there way and hardship on this trip.

    Lewis kept a lot of information during his trips in his journals which gave him a lot of fame because once all of his animals and plants got out to the world he was thanked by my many people. He noted many things and found altogether 174 plants and 134 species of animals which is just a ton of new things to the eyes of young Americans. He even brought a prairie dog to show the president.

    Lewis and Clark had a great amount of help during the trip from many natives especially during hard times. They spent their First winter with the Mandan's. Those natives gave them many supplies to keep them ready for those later months which could of even saved them if they did not get replenished.

    When they departed from the natives they got two members Sacagawea-Charbonneau's wife and a Shoshone Indian. Those Indians acted as an entrepreneurs. At many points since they new the land they helped them greatly at times by having better routes and even getting them more supplies like horses and food.

    They soon reached the pacific ocean in November of 1805 and they made a fort called Clatsop. They spent another winter in the wild(in Oregon).Once it got spring once again they started there journey again to get there new findings to the U.S.
  • Tenth-The good story but Tragic end

    Tenth-The good story but Tragic end
    Lewis and Clark decided to split to find if more new stuff was out there and found a little, but later on the way back got in a fight with Indians and escaped but two died. Lewis then got tradigicly shot on accident and had to tough it out until they met up as a team again. At the end of the crazy adventure they traveled over 8000 miles with no planes, huge boats, or cars. Sadly soon then later Lewis died at a inn from suicide or murder but no one knows the real truth.
