    The French gained control over Spain due to the French invasion in the Napoleon times. Talking about the conspiracy involving Miguel Hidalgo, Ignacio Allende, Miguel Domínguez, Josefa Ortiz de Dominguez, and Juan Aldama was exposed due to the tellings of Josefa’s husband. The Spanish thought that all of those things were just part of a “literary club” when they were really planning an Independence movement to remove all of the Spanish from Mexico.

    When Josefa’s husband gave the green light of the conspiracy in Epigmenio Gonzalez’s house, the Spanish army rushed to search the location and found arms, gunpowder and many other weapons. They arrested him opened a manhunt for Hidalgo and his peers. This was important because it forced the conspiradores to act faster than they had planned.

    Aldama Passes the Message
    After failing to locate Allende, Aldama went directly to communicate the problem to Miguel Hidalgo in Dolores. He told him about the arrest of Epigmenio and the possible arrest of the other team conspiradores. Since they knew that they were going to get arrested as well, they decided that it was time to act. The time for the Independence had begun. He gathered all of the mestizos, indians and parishioners together and have the famous Grito de Dolores that announced the beginning of the Independe

    Hidalgo Conquering Mexico
    Hidalgo moved all of his army to Guanajuato after capturing San Miguel and Celaya. El Pipila ordered to insurgent army. He set fire to pine torches killing gachupines. Around 500 spaniards and 2,000 rebels were killed. This was the first mayor opposition that battled them really hard.

    By this time, Hidalgo’s men had increased amazingly. There were increasing by the second and fought with small, but really equipped Spaniards. A tough fight but succeeded at Monte de las Cruces. Allende advised Miguel Hidalgo to withdraw from that battle but he refused, which resulted in a victory. The Independence movement lasted more than eleven years. They could have finished the movement for good, but due to Hidalgo’s decision, the movement lasted more years and resulted in more deaths.

    Felix Calleja regrouped the Spanish army and fought the Insurgents. The fight between them was said to be won since one of the Spanish army soldiers shot an ammunition wagon transported by the Insurgentes that created a huge bang. This caused for many rebels to flee which gave the Spanish more time to regroup and to strengthen their army.

    Miguel Hidalgo Dies
    Miguel Hidalgo was executed on July 31, 1811 in Chihuahua due to treason to the Spanish crown. His head was publicly displayed in Guanajuato to send a message to all rebels, and what would happen to them if they chose to do what Miguel Hidalgo did. His death was significant because him, as well as the other conspirators were dead, so they had no leader which made the Insurgentes question whether to remain in a side or go to the other.

    Jose Maria Morelos Takes Charge
    The battle of Temalca was fought on the 5th of November between the Spanish and the Mexican army trained by Spanish military leader, Jose Maria Morelos. In the end the Spanish won the battle, Morelos was captured and killed. Morelos brought new ideas to the Independence because he drafted ideas for the new constitution in the Congress of Chilpancingo.

    Iturbide moved his troops and entered Mexico City in September 1821. This event was the eleven years of war. Iturbide ended up restoring peace with the archbishop of the city and received the keys of the city. Mexico is a free nation by now and were able to change government for the people to govern without foreign intrusion.
