    Shintoism

    Shintoism was the original religion of Japan, the ancient Japanese people worshiped gods/goddesses and mother nature. The ancient Japanese people believed they would become kami after they pass away. But to achieve that ultimate goal they had to put family, honor, worship and nature above all else, they would also maintain physical cleanliness and would through many festivals in honor of the gods/goddess and Mother Mature.

    Confucianism

    Confucianism was regarded as a philosophy and a way of life; it is a is a set of rules that a Chinese scholar/teacher created,
    The important values in Confucianism are:
    -Behaving humanely
    -Having the government exist for the good of its people
    -Way of life
    -Obedience
    -Respect for parents/elders
    -Loyalty to one's master

    Buddhism

    Buddhism is a religion founded in northern India, the religion then spread to east Asia, then to Japan. Buddhists believed that:
    - All life involves suffering
    -Suffering is caused by desire
    -Desire can be over come
    -The way to overcome desire is to follow the Noble Eightfold Path.
    The religion of Buddhism attempted to make Japan a noble and truthful country, but there was some conflict with other religions.

    The Rise of the Shoguns

    Military directors overthrow the emperor making him a figure head, while taking control of Japan through military power.

    The Ōnin War

    The Ōnin War was a civil war during Shogun Japan, it caused major economic distress over the success of the shoguns. Samurais were the soldiers used to fight in civil war, the samurai carried spears, bows and would even use fire as a main weapons.
