  • Revolutionary War

    Britain bagan to tax colonists for the first time after the French Indian War; the colonists formed the Sons of Liberty to protest against taxes. This caused the Boston Tea Party which resulted in the Coercive Acts. Fight broke out, beginning the war. The Treaty of Paris ended the Revolutionary war after the American's victory. The Revolutionary war impacted America massively because it was when America first gained independence. I chose it because it's a very important event in our history.
  • Articles of Confederation

    Articles of Confederation
    The Articles of Confederation was the colonies first national government. It succeeded at governing of the sale of lands to settlers, containing progressive policies and establishing regulations for new territories to gain statehood. The Articles of Confederation greatly helped the development of America because it was the first attempt at a national government and it helped America gain success in many aspects. I chose it because it is the foundation of where our nations government came from.
  • Ratification of the Constitution

    Ratification of the Constitution
    "..as the principle contended for has prevailed, it has been the cause of incurable disorder and imbecility in the government." Alexander Hamilton is expressing his feelings that the adoption of the constitution is nessasary for a strong, orderly government.This was an important event because it was the start of the adoption of the constitution which is, if not one of the mose important documents for America. I chose this because it is such an important document, helping our government succeed.
  • Know Your Rights

    The Bill of Rights are the first 10 amendments in the Constitution. Congress adopted the Bill of Rights in 1791 because of the fears of government infringement. This event had an impact on the development of America because it brought about freedom for individuals that still apparent today. I chose this event because the Bill of Rights is what gives us alot of our freedom that we still have the right to own today. We wouldn't be completely free without the Bill of Rights.
  • Florida and the Monroe Doctrine

    Jackson removed the spanish governer of Florida from power as a result of lack of spanish inforcement being the cause of Seminole raids. Stated in the Adams-Onis Treaty 1819, Spain agreed to allow the United States to keep Florida. The Monroe doctrone was introduced as a proclamation declaring North America off limits to European colonization.This played a major role in America because it changed US foreign policy. I chose this because the Monroe Doctrine established the union of the U.S today.
  • Religion and Society

    Second Great Awakening was a period of religious revival for many Mathidists, Presbyterians, and Baptists. In the 1820s, the temperance movement derived from religious leaders who believed that alcohol was the cause of many problems in society. By the 1850s, all states adopted a form of public education.This definitely impacted the development because education still continues to be a priority in America. I chose this event because its the start of the realization that education is essential.
  • Texas

    Texans rebelled against Mexican troops by launching a surprise attack that led to victory and ended in Santa Anna signing the Treaty of Velasco. This treaty recognized the independence of the Republic of Texas.This impacted the development of America because it was the first attempt Texas had at becoming a part of it. Though it arised conflict, it led to Texas becoming United States territory, I chose it because it was the first step taken in creating the America that we have as a whole today.
  • Jackson and the Trail of Tears

    Jackson and the Trail of Tears
    The Cherokees strived for the protection of the United States Supreme Court in 1832 with the cast Worcester v. Gorgia. In 1838, the US army forced the removal of Cherokee and marched them for 116 days over 1000 miles to their new home. This was called the "Trail of Tears"; 25% of these Native Americans died. The Trail of Tears impacted American development because It gave more lands for Americans to cultivate. I chose it because it also demonstrated racism that has continued throughout history.
  • Manifest Destiny

    Manifest Destiny
    Manifest Destiny is the belief that America has the God-given right to expand. United States and Great Britain came to a compromise about disputes over the Oregon Territory; in 1846, they divided Oregon at the 49th parallel. This trail attracted many settelers that wanted land in this territory. This impacted America because the idea of Manifest Destiny spread the United States more in expantion. I chose this because it was the start of the rapid expantion of present day America.
  • Gold Rush

    Gold Rush
    In 1839, John Sutter established the first major American settlement in Calidornia's Sacramento Valley. After the end of the war with Mexico caused California to be passed to the United States, James Wilson Marshal discovered gold at the Sutter's Mill. This caused "gold fever". It was significant to the development of America because it caused people to settle west enmasse. I chose this event because it was the first time that there was such a large population of settlements in one place.
