    In 1796 Napoleon was selcted to lead French troops into Italy.
    There the French defeted the Austrians, who ruled Italy at the time.
    As a result France aquirred Belgium from Austria.
    France also aquirred hundreds of art treasures from Italy, which were placed in the Lourvre, the French national museum.

    He won a great lind victory there, but the British fleet destroyed them.
    Nevertheless, the French succeeded in establishing their influence in Egypt.
    Another important outcome for the french campaign was that the soldiers found the Rosetta Stone.
