  • Coup D’état

    Napoleon got the power of being empire. The people were sick of all the chaos and wanted someone to be in charge. Coup D’état means "a sudden or decisive action in politics, especially resulting in change of government illegally or by force."
  • Concordat

    Concordat
    It was an agreement between Napoleon and Pope Pius VII signed in Paris. it reestablished the Roman Catholic Church in France. The pope lost the right to appoint priests and bishops. Church's lands had been confiscated. The government would continue to select the bishops, but would submit them to the Pope for his approval. Bishops would appoint only priests acceptable to the government.
  • Loss of American Territories

    After a civil war happened, france was is debt, so Napoleon sold the Louisiana territory to the US. He did this because he wanted to finance operations in Europe.and he wanted to punish Britain.
  • Napoleonic Code

    Napoleonic Code
    Gave the country a set of laws and got rid of some injustices but, it decreased freedom and increased order and power of individual rights.
  • Napoleon Crowned As Empire

    When napoleon was crowned as empire, the pope was going to crown him but Napoleon took the crown from him and crowned himself. This showed that he thought he had more power and was more important than the pope.
  • Continental System

    Continental System
    Napoleon set up a blockade to stop trade and communication between Great Britain and all other European nations. He did this to make Europe more independent and to destroy Britain commercial and industrial economy. Smugglers were able to bring stuff in even though the blockade was there. Britain made it's own blockade, and they made it better. Britain stopped ships that were heading to the continent and made them go to a port to be searched and taxed.
  • Conquering Europe

    Napoleon already conquered the Austrian Netherlands and parts of Italy to France and set up a puppet government in Switzerland. He got Russia, Austria, and Sweden to join him against France.
  • The Invasion of Russia

    The Invasion of Russia
    Alexandar 1, a Russian czar refused to stop trading with Britain. So, Napoleon decided to invade Russia. Russia burned grain fields and killed stock so their enemy wouldn't have anything to eat. Russia fell back so Napoleon moved on to Moscow. Moscow killed all but 10,000 soldiers.
  • The Hundred Days

    The Hundred Days
    Louis XVIII got the throne of France. Napoleon escaped Elba because he needed to get his power back. Crowds welcomed him and he became emperor of France again.
  • Waterloo

    Napoleon attacked Waterloo, Belgium. Later, the Prussian army arrivded. Two days later, Napoleon and his army gave up.
