    Christopher Columbus

    Christopher Columus is an Italian who sailed for Spain. On October 12,1492 Columbus landed on San Salvador, and claimed the territory for Spain. returned several times. We arrested and banned himfrom the New World.

    Cortez

    Cortez is Spains conquistador who land in Mexico in 1519. Met and conquered the Aztecs. Renamed their capital Mexico City would be the capital of New Spain.

    Pineda

    Pineda is the Spanish explorer who mapped the coast of Texas in 1519.

    Cabeza de Vaca

    Cabeza de Vaca was shipwrecked near Galveston in 1527. Malhado. Met and lived with the Karankawa. Returned to Mexico years later with stories of good land and treasures.

    Coronado

    Coronado went to find and capture Cibola. Spanish, 1540, was sent to find Cibola. First see Palo Duro and Grand Canyons, expored much of the Texas Pnahandle.
  • LaSalle

    LaSalle is French, and sailed all the way from Canada down to the Mississippi River, to the Gulf of Mexico. He called the area Louisianna. 1685,he landed in Texas. Built Ft.St.Louis. The fort failed and LaSalle was killed by his men.
