He found that there is a point where matter could not be broken down into anything smaller. Atom – tiny particles. His work had been taught throughout the world and although It took a while for people to start to agree with his theory it helped us understand atoms today.

    ο He was very successful growing up and he made a lot of effort to get to where he was.ο He was awarded many awards.ο In the early 1900's most scientists had the theory that there was a positive charge within the atom. ο Instead of an atom being a tightly packed snowball Rutherford showed that an atom had a solid marble like centre and the rest was empty.ο He discovered with other scientists that what they originally thought the atom appeared was not as they thought.
