    Typewritiers
    Typewriters allowed you to type ink onto a piece of paper to create essays and stories. Their popularity started in the late 1880s and carried on until the 1980s when they were replaced by computers. Computers had the backspace button, which instantly made it better than the typewriter.
  • Arcade Games

    Arcade Games
    Arcade Games were one of the main sources of entrainment in the '70s-'80s. Starting in the 70s they were found in malls, restaurants, and other public places. They were replaced by gaming consoles like PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo. People wanted to play games from the comfort of their homes and arcade machines were more expensive and less efficient than gaming consoles.
  • Overhead Projectors

    Overhead Projectors
    Overhead Projectors were used by many teachers, they would use a dry-erase marker and a transparent sheet and project their notes for students to copy. Overhead Projectors were popular through the 70s, 80's, and 90's. They were replaced by digital projectors in the 2000s. It's simply easier to just type up something, making prep and planning easier.
  • Apple iPod

    Apple iPods were portable CDs and cassettes. An iPod could hold an estimated 1000 songs. The iPod was super hot and popular in the early 2000s'. Like most things, the iPod was outmoded by the iPhone. The iPhone could do what the iPod could do and so much more so there was no longer a use for the iPod

    In the 20th century, wristwatches were a staple for everyone's wrist, they were used to tell the time by just looking at your wrist. Wristwatches started to become obsolete in the 1970s but since the introduction of smartphones (June 29, 2007). There has been no need for wristwatches unless is for fashion reasons.
  • Public Telephones

    Public Telephones
    Public Telephones were phone booths that could be used to make calls with just a few coins and a phone number. This was a groundbreaking invention for normal people. Public Telephones were extremely popular from 1980-1995. Phonebooths were outmodeled by cellphones, you still have to pay for calls, but instead, it's in a monthly phone plan. Public Telephones are now just used as relics.
  • Phonebooks

    During the '70s, '80s, and '90s phonebooks were used to find the phone numbers of people. Just search for their name and you can see their number. Online directories replaced phone books. There no need to flip through yellow pages instead the number is either online or in your contacts
  • Portable DvD Player

    This was a game-changer for a lot of people. The ability to watch movies with just a disc and a box anywhere anytime was awesome! Portable DVD players have been popular from 2000 to 2012. They were replaced by smartphones like just about everything else. You can now just pull up any streaming service with just a few clicks of some buttons.
  • Encylopedias

    An Encyclopedia is a book of collected knowledge sorted by subject alphabetically. Encyclopedias were created in the late 17th century and used until the late 20th century. Encyclopedias became obsolete due to the internet. Which is easier, than typing a few letters and pressing search or looking through a huge book.
  • Nintendo Wii

    Nintendo Wii
    Nintendo's Wii, which was released on November 219, 2006, sold over 101 million units and is Nintendo's second highest-selling console only second to the Switch. The Wii absolutely took off in January 2007, and it was the highest-sold console for months and months after. The Wii became obsolete in October 2013, when it was finally discontinued. The reason the Nintendo Wii became obsolete is due to the new releases of gaming consoles, and the lack of new games being produced for the Wii.
