Moral treatment is when you take a mentally ill patient and include them in daily-life activities to help them get better. Sometimes they would treat the patients as small children or animals. This eventually was dropped by the U.S. Due to medical changes in the 20th century.

    Now for a person to be an Occupational Therapist they have to first get their masters degree and go through OT school. Later they must be supervised for six months with clinical experience. Then the last thing is to get a state license in order to be legally registered as an OT.

In most sates of the US OT use ultrasound and electrical stimulations to calm and comfort their patients. Some practictioners use game systems such as the Nintendo Wii for rehabillitative exercises. IPads and iPod touches are even used for cognative retaining so that the patients can work in real life situations.
