    Oedipus is in his palace at Thebes, where the city is under a curse. He talks to a priest, telling him that Creon has been sent to consult Apollo.

    It is revealed that when Oedipus arrived at Thebes, a sphinx was guarding the gates. In order to enter, he had to solve the sphinx’s riddle. He did solve the riddle and he became the hero.

    Creon returns and reveals that in order for the curse to be lifted, the murderer of King Laius must be exiled from Thebes. Oedipus promises to save the city and demands information from anyone who knows of the crime.

    Oedipus seeks Teiresias’s help who tells Oedipus that the murder is him. Oedipus who is enrages, accused Creon and Teiresias of framing him.

    Oedipus was once traveling on a highway when he met a man at the crossroads. Angered, he killed the man and went on toThebes. He was easily accepted as their ruler because the town was grieving the loss of its king

    Jocasta realizes that Oedipus is her son and Laius is his father.

    When talking to Oedipus, Jocasta reveals that a prophecy foretold that Laius would be murdered at a crossroads by his own son. Oedipus worries that he might’ve killed the former king.

    When the prophecy was foretold, Jocasta gouged her son’s feet and threw him in the river in order to kill him. However, the baby was left on a mountainside and survived.
